Summer Ranger Programs

A full schedule of ranger programs will be back for 2024. Pick up a complete program guide at the Summit Ranger Station at the Y near Pinecrest Lake.


For the 2024 season many of your favorite programs will be back, including Woodsy Owl, Silly Songs and Tall Tales, Star Gazing, Nature Walks, and Junior Rangers.

A majority of programs are held at the Pinecrest Amphitheater, but some are farther afield. Pick up directions and a map at the ranger station.

Winter 2024 Activities

Summit Ranger Station will be offering a great schedule of winter activities, likely including a Junior Snow Ranger Club, Winter Campfire Programs, and Snowshoeing with a Ranger. As winter approaches, check the complete list of upcoming activities: Stanislaus National Forest News & Events

Silly Songs and Nature Crafts - June 25 through July 30, 2024 - on Tuesdays

At the Pinecrest Amphitheater, 10 AM to 11 AM - Tall Tales and Silly Songs, all ages.
Followed by Nature Crafts from 11 AM to 12 PM, All ages, suggested $2 donation.

Junior Ranger Club at Pinecrest Fishing Pier

June 26 through July 31, 2024, on Wednesdays
Calling all kids! Do you want to become a Junior Ranger? During this program you will learn about the Stanislaus National Forest and how you can help take care of this beautiful place! You will be sworn in as a Junior Rangerat the end of the program.

Yoga at Pinecrest Beach #3

June 27 through August 8, 2024, on Thursdays
Join Kim Brodie from Mountain Om Yoga and a Forest Service Ranger for Yoga in the Forest. Bring a yoga mat, or blanket, or borrow one of ours. All ages. Class size limited to the first 30 people. Suggested donation: $10 per person. 3 PM to 4 PM

Tree ID with the Ranger

June 28 through August 2, 2024, on Fridays Meet at Pinecrest School. Learn how to identify our beautiful trees on this shady walk through the forest from Pinecrest Shool to Meadowview Campground kiosk. All ages. 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM

Wildflower Walk (10 AM - 11:30 AM) and Making Tracks (2:00 PM - 3:30 PM)

June 29 through August 3, 2024, on Saturdays. Both activities meet at Summit Ranger Station, for all ages
Wildflower Walk: Enjoy a leisurely stroll with a ranger as you learn about wildflowers growing the in the forest.
Making Tracks: Meet on the front porch at the Ranger station to learn how to identify animal tracks. You can make an animal track out of plaster to take home with you! Suggested donation $2/ participant.
